Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was hospitalized Saturday after being stabbed in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the early morning, according to a statement from Fox Sports. Sanchez, now a commentator for Fox and Fox Sports 1, is reportedly alive and recovering.
“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” Fox Sports said in a statement Saturday on X. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time,” the statement continued.
Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call about a “disturbance in an alley” around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, according to local news outlet WTHR. The call noted one person had been stabbed and that another had been injured.
The disturbance reportedly occurred outside a pub near the intersection of Washington Street and North Senate Avenue, per WTHR. An unidentified suspect in the stabbing has been arrested, according to the outlet.

The former USC great played eight seasons in the NFL after being selected fifth overall in the 2009 draft by the New York Jets. He went on to help the Jets win two consecutive AFC Championship games in his first two seasons.
Sanchez also played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. His last appearance in the NFL came during a regular-season game with the Commanders in 2018.
