Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, made a cryptic post following the viral news about Taylor Swift’s engagement to the Kansas City Chiefs star.
Hours after the couple announced their engagement on Instagram on Tuesday, Nicole reposted a video clip featuring actress Tracee Ellis Ross discussing the importance of finding “joy.”
“I think joy is different from happiness. Happiness is something you can get at 7-Eleven, and joy is something that you earn and work for and takes practice,” Ross said in the clip.
“I think joy is an attitude,” the “Black-ish” star added. “I think joy is a perspective, and I think joy is a lens through which I live and look at my life.”
Nicole, who dated Kelce in an on-again, off-again relationship for five years before they officially split in 2022, captioned her Instagram Story, “Read about this very concept years ago in a book called ‘Choose Joy: Because Happiness Isn’t Enough’. I aspire! So so good.”
The sports journalist’s post came after she had been publicly vocal in the past about the online backlash she’s faced amid Kelce and Swift’s highly publicized relationship.

Swift and the NFL star announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post alongside a carousel of photos from their picturesque garden proposal scene.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married [firecracker emoji],” the “Love Story” singer captioned the post that has amassed more than 33 million likes.
The songwriter and Kelce have been romantically linked since late 2023.
Nicole and Kelce reportedly first met over Instagram, according to Nicole.

In October, Nicole shut down a rumor surrounding why she and the “New Heights” podcast host split while appearing on Angel Reeses’ “Unapologetically Angel” podcast.
After Reese questioned whether it was true that they broke up after Kelce insisted they split bills, Nicole denied the hearsay.
“No, this is the question: Do I look like I would go 50/50 on bills?” Nicole asked Reese, to which the WNBA player responded, “No.”
“OK. So yeah, that was ridiculous,” Nicole said. “But he addressed that, too, though. I don’t even know how people — why that even became a thing.”
Meanwhile, Kelce also addressed the “crazy” rumors that he was “cheap” during his relationship with Nicole during an appearance on “The Pivot Podcast” in 2023.
“Don’t buy into that shit, don’t buy into that shit,” he said.
To date, it appears neither Nicole nor Kelce has publicly confirmed why they called it quits.
