Bill Belichick’s daughter-in-law, Jennifer Schmitt, wrote on Instagram that Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, wasn’t acting as a publicist during his awkward “CBS Sunday Morning” interview because “publicists act in a professional manner.”
“Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview,” Schmitt, who is married to Belichick’s son Stephen Belichick, wrote Wednesday on Instagram.
The comment was in response to comedian Nikki Glaser, who commented on a clip from the podcast “Dudes on Dudes,” in which former NFL stars Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman said the narrative around Hudson is unfair.
Gronkowski and Edelman argued in the podcast clip that Hudson was acting as a publicist and that she interrupted the interview like any other publicist would have doe. Glaser commented that she “100%” agreed with them.
“She’s acting as his publicist,” Glaser wrote. “Publicists do this during interviews. People are out for blood.”
Schmitt didn’t agree, however. In her comment, she seemingly referred to a report from TMZ that Hudson “stormed out” of the interview and “delayed shooting for 30 minutes.”
Belichick, the head football coach of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, said in a statement Wednesday that he had wanted the “CBS Sunday Morning” interview to be centered on his new book.
Most of the eight-minute segment is focused on Belichick and his coaching career. At one point, “CBS Sunday Morning” co-host Tony Dokoupil asks Belichick about his relationship with Hudson, who is 50 years Belichick’s junior. When asked how they met, Hudson interrupts, saying, “We’re not talking about this.”
Belichick has reportedly asked Hudson to be copied on all of his emails. The Athletic reported that Hudson has given her input on social media posts regarding Belichick and Stephen Belichick, who works with his father as defensive coordinator at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
