Brittany Mahomes wasn’t having it with haters on Friday after she sparked backlash for reportedly liking one of former President Donald Trump’s Instagram posts on his MAGA agenda.
The former soccer player, who is married to Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, liked a post by Trump shared on Aug. 13 that outlined a “2024 GOP platform” with plans to “stop the migrant invasion,” “carry out the largest deportation operation in American history” and “keep men OUT of women’s sports,” according to multiple media outlets.
As of early Sunday morning, Brittany Mahomes appeared to have unliked the post. She does not follow the GOP presidential nominee on Instagram.
After the backlash, Mahomes shared a message on her Instagram story on Friday that seemingly threw shade at her critics.
“I mean honestly. To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well,” the post read.
However, other social media users have speculated that Mahomes’ message wasn’t in reference to the Trump post and instead was addressed to criticism about her being named alongside her husband after they pledged a $5 million gift for a project at his alma mater, Texas Tech University.
Mahomes previously criticized Trump in 2017 after the former president called on NFL owners to “fire or suspend” players who kneeled for the national anthem, an act by players to protest racial injustice and police brutality.
“Trump, you have now offended waaaay too many people🙊,” she wrote at the time on X, formerly called Twitter.
