U.S. skateboarder Nyjah Huston said the bronze medal he won at the Paris Olympics isn’t showing its mettle.

“So these Olympic medals look great when they’re brand new,” Huston said in a video. “But after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat for a little bit and letting my friends wear it over the weekend, they’re apparently not as high-quality as you’d think. … It’s looking rough.”

Huston showed the medal from a few angles, and it did appear to have lost its luster in spots. It also appeared to be stained and chipped a bit.

“I don’t know, Olympic medals, maybe we gotta step up the quality a little bit,” he added.

In response to Huston’s complaint, a spokesperson for the Paris Olympics told HuffPost in a statement: “The medals are the most coveted objects of the Games and the most precious for the athletes. Damaged medals will be systematically replaced by Monnaie de Paris and engraved in an identical way to the originals.”
