A cameraman is going viral for wandering onto the track and interfering with runners during a 5,000-meter heat at the Paris Olympics.
In the second heat at Stade de France Wednesday, the camera operator could be seen walking absentmindedly into the second lane of a crowded race, forcing the pack to part around him. Watch it right here.
BBC commentator Paula Radcliffe watched the scene unfold in shock. “They’ll be looking to pick up the pace … if the cameraman stays out of the way,” she said, per the Express. “They weren’t expecting that, were they?”
Jakob Ingebrigsten of Norway won the heat and fumed over the interloper.
“It’s amateurish,” he said, per The Daily Mail. “That should not happen in an Olympics. I was just far enough out in front to see that something or the other is happening. He has quite a large camera rig. He realized it quite quickly, but the damage is done. For some, their race is ruined.”
Meanwhile, the internet piled on to condemn the wandering cameraman.
