Footage of French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati accidentally knocking off the bar with his crotch Saturday is understandably getting media coverage.
Ammirati was attempting to qualify for the Paris Olympics final at Stade de France but won the internet instead. Video shows him first hitting the bar with his leg and then dislodging it completely with his package on the way down.
He lost the battle of the bulge on this attempt and finished 12th to miss the final.
Believe it or not, Ammirati isn’t the first Olympian to have done this. Japanese pole vaulter Hiroki Ogita also banged the bar loose with his leg and privates at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
“Watching again, this is pretty funny, if I say so myself. LOL,” Ogita wrote on social media.
