Synchronized diving duo Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook made a major splash at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, earning this year’s first medal for the United States.

The divers, who together are known as Cook ‘n’ Bacon, won silver in the women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard, with a score of 314.64. The gold went to China’s Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen, with 337.68, while the bronze medalists were Great Britain’s Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen, with 302.28.

Bacon, 27, and Cook, 29 have been friends for nearly two decades and began synchronized diving as a pair in 2019.

“I’m overcome with emotion right now,” Cook told NBC after the win. “I mean, I get to share this experience with one off my best friends ever.”
