Butker took issue with a segment of the Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony Friday that appeared to feature drag queens and others supposedly reenacting “The Last Supper” ― Leonardo da Vinci’s imagining of Jesus Christ’s final meal with his apostles before being crucified.

“Be not deceived, God is not mocked,” Butker wrote on social media, quoting a Bible verse. He also shared a video clip of the act, one of many that pushed boundaries in the ceremony along the Seine River. Another interlude artistically depicted a ménage à trois.

“For what things a man shall sow, those also shall he reap,” Butker continued in his quote. “For he that soweth in his flesh, of the flesh also shall reap corruption. But he that soweth in the spirit, of the spirit shall reap life everlasting.”

Butker commented on the segment in his Instagram stories as well, writing, “This is crazy.”

At that moment, Butker became a household name for Americans on the right and left who were unaware of his exploits for his Super Bowl-winning football team.
