Jaylen Brown is the MVP at shutting out speculation.

On Tuesday, the Boston Celtics champion and 2024 NBA Finals MVP shared some thoughts on X, formerly Twitter, about LeBron James’ eldest son, Bronny James, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers last month — the same team the elder James plays for.

Eagle-eyed basketball fans had taken to social media after a video circulated of Brown seated courtside next to WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick and Chicago Sky star rookie Angel Reese at an NBA Summer League game on Monday night.

Some people on the internet speculated that Brown had told Gondrezick something along the lines of: “I don’t think Bronny is a pro.”

Fans also believe Brown later told Gondrezick that he thought the 19-year-old would likely end up on the Lakers, and not the NBA’s G-League, due to who his dad is.

Brown did not explicitly address all the conjecture, but he took the opportunity to compliment the father-son duo.

“It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the nba it reflects greatness and longevity!” he wrote. “Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful I look forward to watching his growth.”

A representative for Brown didn’t immediately return a request for comment.

The Lakers selected Bronny James with the 55th pick in the second round of the draft last month.

The younger James was seen in a video at the time fighting back tears as he watched the announcement during the broadcast for the 2024 NBA Draft with family and friends.

LeBron James re-signed with the Lakers, agreeing to a two-year contract with the team earlier this month, the Associated Press reported.

Bronny and his NBA champion dad could become the first father-son duo to simultaneously play on the same NBA team.
